Grid International Inc is possibly the oldest OD framework in the world. Established in the early 60s, Grid International Inc has a very interesting founding story ! Dr Robert Blake who was then a professor of Psychology at Austin University Texas was approached by the CEO of Exxon in the early 60s with an interesting request – to help them figure out why the company was performing below par despite having the best resources. The study by Dr Robert Blake and his friend, mathematician Dr Jane Mouton threw up an extremely interesting insight – the performance of the company was directly connected to the behaviours of people ! This powerful insight became the essence of the Grid Theory by Drs Robert Blake and Jane Mouton.
