A SOUND CULTURE IS THE CORE INGREDIENT FOR SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.

CULTURE IS THE CORE INGREDIENT FOR SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.

WHAT IS CULTURE AND WHY IS
CULTURE SO IMPORTANT ?

All the attitudes, values, beliefs, past practices and precedents, assumptions, and experiences of an organisation (or team) come together in one giant force called Culture. It becomes a set of unwritten norms that influence team members' behaviours.

  • It influences the way you talk
  • It influences the way you treat each other
  • It influences the way you deal with customers
  • It influences the way you speak to each other
  • It influences the way you make decisions

Silently, Subtly, Invisibly, in a 1000 different ways

The iceberg model highlights Culture & Behaviour beautifully. Almost 70-80% of the iceberg is underwater and just the balance 20-30% is visible. Similarly, what we see when we interact with people are their behaviours. What we do not see is the underlying attitudes, values, beliefs, assumptions etc that drive their behaviours.

People and Teams express behaviours in many ways – in the way, they take decisions, resolve disagreements, ask questions, express convictions, show involvement, take feedback, give feedback etc. These behaviours are visible to each other when people interact. However why they behave in a particular way is influenced by the invisible norms of the group they are involved in. This is the invisible below-the-water-level force called Culture. Culture influences Behaviours that in turn drive Results.

Therefore, if you wish to change the Results, you have to change the underlying assumptions, attitudes and beliefs that drive the behaviours i.e the Culture. The primary reason why many transformation initiatives fail is that organisations and change leaders focus on changing behaviours. That is like applying force on the visible part of the iceberg. And of course, that does not move the iceberg. It simply breaks it !

just one aspect of the game, it is the game

Building Sound Culture

“Customers will never love a company until the employees love it first” – Simon Sinek.
Culture is an oft-spoken, rarely understood word. There is not a single leader – corporate or otherwise, who does not speak of culture. The challenge though is in knowing how to build a sound culture that makes employees want to come to work every single day excitedly.

Discovering Core Purpose & Core Values

“People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.” – Simon Sinek.
Almost everyone understands the meaning of Purpose and Values, they also understand the need for it in their businesses. Most however miss the real reason for bringing this into the corporate identity. They think of it as great PR – in websites, corporate slides, induction programs, and even in company newsletters.

Building Trusting Teams

“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” – Babe Ruth
A team is not a group of individuals that are involved in a common task. It is a single unit consisting of individuals who chase a common goal. The key is in the difference! A powerful team is founded on Trust.

Leadership Coaching for CxOs & Senior Leaders

“The major challenge of most executives is not understanding the practice of leadership – it is practising their understanding of leadership.” – Marshall Goldsmith
There is a lot of excitement around the term coaching. There is also a lot of confusion and misunderstanding. In simple language, coaching is about helping a leader become more effective as a leader.

Designing & Delivering LDP Initiatives

A lot of programs meant for leadership development ironically are not designed to deliver that objective! The problem lies, not in the intention or ability to design a good program, but in understanding the elements of good leadership. Most LDPs focus on the Program itself. At Leadership & Grid, we focus on Leadership!
